Obituary of Ralph Pennington

Mr. Lloyd Ralph Pennington, age 84, of N. C. Norris Road, Boone, died Sunday morning, April 18, 2010 at Watauga Medical Center. Born June 3, 1925 in Konnarock, Virginia, he was a son of the late Leroy and Laura Pennington. Ralph served in the US Navy for 7 years during WWII. He later joined the Army Air Corp where he served an additional 10 years. He retired from Dulles Airport where he worked as a fuel technician. Ralph was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and American Legion Post 130. Surviving are his wife: Clara Norris Pennington, two daughters; Mary Frances Pennington Groff and husband Edward of Banner Elk, Beverly Wood and husband Skip of Boone, three sons; Dennis Pennington of Stafford, VA, Wayne and Kevin Pennington both of Boone, three brothers; Dave Pennington and wife Bridgette of Boydton, Virginia, Allen Pennington and wife Iris and Kelly Pennington all of Marion Virginia, 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters; Ida Testerman, Geraldine Pennington and Gay Doss, and two brothers; Donald and Tim Pennington. Funeral services, with Military Honors, for Mr. Ralph Pennington will be conducted Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Bethany Lutheran Church officiated by Pastor John Bollinger and Vicar Michael Beery. The family will receive griends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM one hour prior to the service at the church.
