Obituary of Elsie D. Cecile

Elsie Louise Disher Cecile, age 83, of Ferguson, NC, passed away on April 14, 2010. She was born July 6, 1926 in Winston-Salem, NC, a daughter of the late Irvin D. and Pearl Ellis Disher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Cecile and one son, Ronny Cecile. Also she was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister: Ira Disher, Raymond (Marie) Disher, Elmer (Nell) Disher, and Lillie Mae (Bob) Smith. Mrs. Cecile was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church in Wilkesboro, N.C. She retired from Hanes Hosiery after 30 years and became a full time housewife. A devoted wife and an exceptional mother and grandmother were two of her greatest achievements. Hard work and perseverance define her character. Survivors include four sons: Bill, Jr. (Beverly), Larry "Duts" (Marcia), Danny "Snookie" (Margaret), and Raymond "Pete" (Gail) and one daughter, Martha (Ricky) Hartman. Also surviving are her step-mother, Mozelle Disher, two half-brothers, Frankie and Johnny Disher, as well as, two half-sisters, Mary Jane Disher and Joann Gough and several nieces and nephews. Her legacy survives through twelve grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home in Boone, NC, officiating will be Rev. Vernon Eller. Visitation will be from 7:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, April 16, 2010 at the funeral home. A private family service will be held afterward at the family cemetery.
