April 14, 2010 Mr. Earl Conley Phillips, age 75, of US 321 North, Sugar Grove, died Tuesday afternoon, April 13, 2010 at home. Born February 10, 1935 in Watauga County, he was a son of the late Clay and Nellie Greene Phillips. Mr. Phillips was a member of Beech Creek Baptist Church and a US Navy Veteran. Earl was a plumbing and grading contractor and gave willingly of his time to help others. Surviving are his wife; Bonita Guy Phillips, two sons; Danny Phillips and wife Laurie and Josh Phillips all of Sugar Grove; four grandchildren; Benjamin, Austin, Olivia and Anna Phillips, two sisters; Betty Bentley and husband Perry Glenn �Sam� Bentley of Foscoe, and Kate Cogan and husband Pat of Bethel; two brothers; J. C. Phillips and wife Carrie lee of Vilas and Tommy Phillips and wife Shirley of Lexington, one sister in law, Leatha Surratt Phillips of Taylorsville, five nephews; Jimmy Phillips and wife Kathy, Eric Phillips and wife Jennifer, Charles Phillips, Philip McBrayer and Bobby Dean �Bo� Phillips, and four nieces; Kathy Phillips Batchelor and husband Ray, Carol Watson and husband Billy, Teresa Bentley, and Gay Nell Aponte� and husband Rob. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step mother; Alma Hodges Phillips, one brother; Bobby Dean Phillips, and one nephew, Perry Glenn Bentley, Jr. Funeral services for Mr. Earl Conley Phillips will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o�clock at the Beech Creek Baptist Church. Officiating will be Elder Dean Shepherd and Rev. Kilby Stines. The body will lie in state at the church from 1 until 2 o�clock Burial will follow in the Beech Creek Community Cemetery.
