Joseph Marion 'JOE' Wilson, age 92, of Mountain City, Tennessee, and a native and resident of the Beaverdam community, died Sunday evening, March 28, 2010, at the Mountain City Care Center. He was born January 3, 1918 in Watauga County to Raleigh and Mary Eggers Wilson. Mr. Wilson was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. He was a farmer and retired from the ASU Library.
Mr. Wilson is survived by one son, Robert M. Wilson of Vilas and one daughter, Jo Ann W. Scott of Kingsport, Tennessee; one brother, Rev. Carl Wilson and his wife Mary of Vilas; and four granddaughters, Theresa Khrybeh of Greenville, Lesia Gregory and husband Case of Rural Hall, Bobbie Jo Wilson of Zionville and Diane Wilson. Four great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Robinson Wilson, one son, Allen Wilson, five sisters,Lena Pugh, Minnie Johnson, Nettie Potter, Grace Perry and Dula Powell, and three brothers, Frank, Dave and Dean Wilson.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday evening, March 30, 2010 at 8 o'clock at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Carl Wilson and Rev. Carl Johnson. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:30 until 8 o'clock, prior to services, at Austin & Barnes.
Graveside services and burial will be conducted Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock at the Lower Beaverdam Cemetery.
