Obituary of Jane B. Cornett

Jane Brown Cornett, age 71, of Old US Hwy 421, Zionville, went to be with her Lord Friday evening, February 12, 2010 surrounded by her family. She was born April 7, 1938 in Watauga County, a daughter of Jim and Mae Lawrence Brown. She was a member of Zionville Baptist Church. Mrs. Cornett was a life-long caregiver to their son, Mark. She and her husband Allen were instrumental in establishing the School for Exceptional Children, currently at Hardin Park Elementary School.
Mrs. Cornett is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Troy Allen Cornett; four sons, Michael Cornett and wife Sandra, of Zionville, Mark Cornett of the home, Jeff Cornett and wife Linda, of Zionville, and Shawn Cornett and wife, Loretta, of Boone; three grandchildren, Dakota Jane and Tyler Allen Cornett of Zionville and Crystal Nicole Cornett of Boone, two step-grandchildren, Chris and Timmy Baird; one sister, Jean Brown Cole and husband, Everett, of Vilas; and two sisters-in-law, Pearl Palmer of Zionville and Geneva Johnson of Vilas. Six nieces, six nephews, a number of cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews and a very special great-great niece, Ava Grace Dickerson of Raleigh and a great-great nephew, Dylan Paul Greene of Boone also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Brown. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, February 16, 2010 at 2 o�clock at Zionville Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Carl Johnson and Rev. Derick Wilson. The body will lie in state at the church from 1 until 2 o�clock. Burial will follow in the Zionville Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:30 until 8 o�clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home.
