Mr. Joseph Jackson "Jack" Austin, age 71, of Willy Austin Road, Blowing Rock, died Thursday afternoon, November 22, 2007 at Blowing Rock Hospital. Born in Watauga County January 10, 1936, he was a son of the late William Walter and Ruth Shore Austin. Jack was retired from the Town of Boone, and a US Navy Veteran. He was a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Moss Austin; One Daughter Sharon Austin Bryant and husband Tim of Blowing Rock; Sons Joseph Jackson Austin, Jr. and wife Sue of Vilas; Tim Bryant and wife Sharon of Blowing Rock; Matt Bryant and wife Kelly of Johnson City, TN; Damon Bryant of Blowing Rock and Jonathan Austin and wife Lorraine of Mountain City, TN and Mark Jack Austin of Blowing Rock; Seven grandchildren; One sister, Maude Black and Husband Jewell of Blowing Rock; and one brother, David Austin and wife Jean of Blowing Rock.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mabel Austin Bowman.
Funeral services for Mr. Joseph Jackson Austin, Sr., will be conducted Sunday, November 25, 2007, at 3:00 PM at Cool Springs Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Michael Austin and Rev. Wes Austin. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. at Cool Springs Baptist Church prior to the funeral service.
