Grace Barnes Tester, age 84, of Howard's Creek Road, Boone, died Friday morning, January 22, 1010 at her home. She was born January 23, 1925 in Watauga County to Fred and Ida Jane Greene Barnes. Mrs. Tester was a housewife and homemaker. She was a member of Doe Ridge Baptist Church. Surviving Mrs. Tester are three sons, Ted Tester of the home, J. W. Tester of Deep Gap and Lee Roy Tester and wife, Elvene, of Valle Crucis; three daughters, Barbara Hardy and husband, B. J., of Deep Gap and Orbie Glenn and husband, Steve, and Isabelle Love and husband, Earbie, all of Boone; one brother, Dick Barnes and wife, Nan, of Boone; two granddaughters, Dina Rose Carlton and Flora Eve Love; five grandsons, Tommy James Love, Joseph Lee Love and wife Lisa, Timothy Jordan Love, Matthew Ryan Love, and James Edward Love; one step-grandson, David McGuire; two step-granddaughters, Deanna Lingerfelt and Tichy Robbins; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Tester, one son, William Ed Tester, three brothers, William Earl, Ed and Ted Carroll Barnes, and one sister, Pearl Penley. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon, January 24, 2010 at 2 o'clock at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Arville Hardy and Rev. Mike Townsend. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1 until 2 o'clock, one hour prior to services, at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Skyland Cemetery.
