Obituary of Joseph C. Winkler

Mr. Joseph Charles "Joe" Winkler, Jr., age 47 of Bamboo Road, Boone, died Monday evening, January 18, 2010 at Watauga Medical Center. Born February 9, 1962 in Cabarrus County, he was a son of the late Joseph Charles Winkler and Ann Peeler Winkler. Joe was a 1980 graduate of Watauga High School and a 1985 graduate of the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Joe was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a banker. Surviving are; his mother Ann Peeler Winkler of Boone, one brother; Scott Winkler and wife Jeanne, one niece; Allison Winkler; three nephews; David and Ryan Winkler and Stephen Williams all of Boone; three aunts and uncles; Ralph and Kaye Peeler of Greensboro, Tony Winkler and wife Peggy of North Wilkesboro and Lynn Winkler Hudson and husband Richard of Boone, one great aunt; Edith Weant Peeler of Salisbury, one great uncle; Graham Weant and wife Hazel of Tupelo, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Charles Winkler, his maternal grandparents; Ralph and Geneva Peeler and his paternal grandparents; Joe and Irene Winkler. Funeral services for Mr. Joseph Charles "Joe" Winkler will be conducted Thursday morning at 11 o'clock at the First Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Roy Dobyns adn Dr. Wayne Brown. Burial will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday morning prior to the service from 10 o'clock until 11 o'clock at the church.
