Obituary of Blackie Nelson

Mr. Winston "Blackie" Nelson, age 85, of Maple Street, Blowing Rock, died Tuesday morning at home. He is survived by his wife; Phoebe Nelson, three step-children; Christopher Walker of California, Geoffry Walker of Atlanta, Georgia and Laurie Orgass of Blowing Rock and one brother; Neale Nelson of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents; Berger and Hulda Lundgren Nelson. Memorial services for Mr. Winston "Blackie" Nelson will be conducted Monday morning at 11 o'clock at St. Mary of the Hills Episcopal Church. Officiating will be Father Rick Lawler. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215 or to St. Mary of the Hills Episcopal Church, Outreach Ministries, PO Box 14, Blowing Rock, NC 28605 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
