Obituary of Hazel W. Hayes

Hazel Moody Wright Hayes, age 93, of Wallingford Street, Blowing Rock, died Friday afternoon, December 18, 2009 at Watauga Medical Center. She was born April 18, 1916 in Blowing Rock to Arthur Columbus and Marticia Estes Moody. Ms. Hayes was a member of Sandy Flat Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She is survived by; two daughters, Louise Wright Absher and husband, Jerry, and Abby Hazel Hayes, all of Blowing Rock; two sons, James Wright and wife, Betty, of Blowing Rock and Rev. Rudy Albert Hayes and wife, Becky, of Hickory; one sister, Shirley Moody Henson of Boone; one brother, Jack Moody and wife, Eula Mae, of Lenoir; and fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Estes, Comie Tharrington, and an infant, and four brothers, A. C., Merl, Reece and Ivan Moody. Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon, December 21st at 1 o\\\'clock at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Rudy Hayes. The family will receive friends Monday from 11 until 1 o\\\'clock, prior to services, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Blowing Rock.
