Mr. Roy Farthing Williams, Jr. age 87, of Big Hill Road, Boone, died Saturday morning, December 5, 2009 at Life Care Center of Banner Elk. Born September 10, 1922 in Watauga County he was a son of the late Roy Farthing Williams, Sr. and Connie Hayes Williams. Mr. Williams was a retired dental lab technician and an active member of Meat Camp Baptist Church. He was an Air Force Veteran of WWII.
Surviving are: his wife Jean Clawson Williams, two sons; David Williams and wife Faye of Boone and Charles Williams and wife Patsy of Kannapolis, three grandchildren; Wesley Williams and wife Suzanne of Charlotte, Karen Williams of Winston-Salem and Gregory Williams of Asheville, and two great grandchildren; Samantha and Devon Williams of Charlotte. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters; Pauline Dotson, Ora Lee Blair and Beatrice Sherwood and one brother Clyde Williams and an infant sister, Mary Sue Williams.
Funeral services for Mr. Roy Farthing Williams, Jr. will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Austin and Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Mike Townsend and Rev. John Bollinger. Burial will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park and Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday prior to the service from noon until 2 o'clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home. The family respectfully requests no food. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meat Camp Baptist Church, FELLOWSHIP HALL Fund, in care of Barry Greene, 527 Jack Hayes Road, Boone, NC 28607.
