Obituary of William M. Welborn

Mr. William Mack Welborn, age 74, of Roan Mountain, Tennessee and a former resident of Boone, died Thursday evening, November 26, 2009 at home. Born May 19, 1935 in Watauga County he was a son of the late John Washington and Mary Edith Hahn Welborn. Mr. Welborn was a graduate of Appalachian State University. He was a high school teacher and coach, having taught in Florida and at Hunter-Huss High School in Gastonia. He also worked in construction doing home improvements.
Surviving are two sisters; Lucy McGuire and husband Mike of Sugar Grove, and Rachel Hill of Ft. Worth, Texas, and three brothers; J.W. Welborn of Greenville, NC, Raleigh Welborn of Winston-Salem, and David Welborn of Boone. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Frances Morrow Welborn.
Memorial services for Mr. William Mack Welborn will be conducted Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 o'clock until 11 o'clock. Burial will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens.
