Mr. Elmer Wendell Fox, Sr., age 86, of 211 Milton Brown Heirs Road, Boone and a former resident of Vilas, died Monday morning, November 23, 2009 at Glenbridge Health & Rehabilitation. Born April 3, 1923, he was a son of the late James Burton and Nora Clark Fox. Mr. Fox was an Army Veteran of WWII, having served in the 84th Infantry Division. He was retired truck driver and attended Brushy Fork Baptist Church.
Surviving are one son; Wendell Fox and wife Wanda of Deep Gap, four grandchildren; Rick Finger and wife Katy of New York, Randy Finger and wife Lisa of Raleigh, Brittany and Shannon Fox of Deep Gap, one great grandson, Mason Finger and one sister; Vivian Eddy and husband Bill of Ft. Meyers, Florida. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife; Ola Dancy Fox, four sisters; Cora Woolsey, Estelle Pierce, Hazel Mast, and Virdie Fox, and six brothers; Loy, Lynn, Ernest, Everette, Stewart and Ira Fox.
Funeral services for Mr. Elmer Wendell Fox will be conducted Friday afternoon at 12:30 at Brushy Fork Baptist Church. Officiating will be Pastor Andy McFarland. Burial will follow in the Fox Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 11 o�clock until noon at Brushy Fork Baptist Church. At other times friends may call at the home of Wendell and Wanda Fox, 210 Rocky Point Acres, Deep Gap, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brushy Fork Baptist Church, 3915 US Hwy 421 North, Vilas, NC 28692 or to Gideons International Boone Camp, Post Office Box 3602, Boone, NC 28607.
