Obituary of Michael Mullarkey
Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
As is befitting of a rogue gentleman captain, Michael John Mullarkey passed away on St. Crispin's Day, Sunday, October 25, 2009, at the age of 4,257 after a valiant joust with invading forces.
Michael spent the greater part of his adult life battling demons and showing others how to conquer theirs. As a drug and alcohol abuse counselor, poet, historian, model ship builder, and Greatest Story Teller of the Mississippi, Michael was a romantic soul who made this world a more colorful and palatable place for the hopeful and misunderstood. Michael also protected and defended in the US Army for fourteen years.
Michael began his life in, California, moved to Hawaii, Wisconsin, and completed his adventure in the mountains of North Carolina.
He is survived by his spouse, muse and lifelong cohort in adventure, Judy Ferris. Also, his mother, Joyce; brothers Sean (Rosemary), Kevin Leslie), and Patrick; sisters, Mary (Alan) Brown, Kathleen (Daniel) Lamasney, and a daughter, Michelle (Andy) Wendling. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert, and a sister Margie.
Michael touched many souls in this world, and allowed many to touch his. Special tip of the hat to Jacinta, Steve, Hillary, and Chris.
By Jove, I am not covetous for gold,
Nor care I who doth feed upon my cost;
It yearns me not if men my garments wear;
Such outward things dwell not in my desires.
But if it be a sin to covet honour,
I am the most offending soul alive.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICES FOR MICHAEL MULLARKEY WILL BE HELD SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 7TH AT 6:30 PM AT THE BOONE UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST FELLOWSHIP, BOONE, NC.
Fare thee well, Brave Soul
