Jonathan Brennan Kampfer, age 19, of Junaluska Road, Boone, died Sunday evening, October 11, 2009. He was born July 20, 1990 in Fairfield, California. Jonathan was a full time student at Watauga High School and was employed part time at the school. He was the #5 running back for the Pioneers and was a member of the National Honor Society and Civil Air Patrol. Jonathan was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the Carolina Panthers.
He is survived by; his father, Staff Sgt. Robert Thomas Kampfer of Boone; his mother and nephew, Kathy Evonne Whittington Kampfer and Tyler Ray, both of Boone; one sister, Dezmin Marie Kampfer of Boone; his maternal grandmother, Rachel Grimes Whittington of Boone and his paternal grandparents, , Col. John Brennan Kampfer and Dr. Joyce E. Kampfer, both of Honolulu, Hawaii; step-grandmother, Odessa Long of Crumpler; two aunts, Nellie Marie Ervin of Chapel Hill and Fontrina Way of Crumpler;, three uncles, Johnny Whittington and wife Theresa of Fayetteville, Ronnie Whittington and wife Joyce of Nashville, Tennessee, and Michael McQueen of Crumpler; his great Aunt, Katherine Folk and great-uncle, Lenny Whittington, both of Boone; and cousins, Hope and Cherie Dove of Chapel Hill and Aunt Judi and Yvonne Folk, both of Boone; and many more family and friends around the world.
Services for Jonathan Brennan Kampfer will be conducted Friday morning, October 16th, at 11 o'clock at the First Baptist Church on Boone, officiated by Rev. Reggie Hunt and Rev. Morris Hatton. The family will receive friends Friday morning from 10 until 11 o'clock, one hour prior to services, at the church.
