Mr. Sanford Arnold Parlier, age 76, of Joe Parlier Road, the old Beech Mountain Community, died Saturday evening, November 10, 2007 at Johnson City Medical Center. Born in Avery County February 11, 1931, he was a son of the late Joe and Sarah Ann Walsh Parlier. Mr. Parlier was a retired stone mason and a member and Deacon of Beech Mountain Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Joan H. Parlier, two daughters; Sandra Parlier of Sugar Grove, and Linda Biggs and husband Gary of Elk Park, four sons; Arnold Parlier and wife Brenda of Granite Falls, Charles Parlier and wife Willa Deane of Mountain City, Tennessee, James Parlier and wife Carolyn and Jeff Parlier and wife Sondra all of Elk Park, one daughter in law, Alice Parlier of Elk Park, four sisters; Irene Clemmons, Cozie Hyder and Lou Martinelli all of Elizabethton, Tennessee and Florence Cook of Winston-Salem, one brother; Lawrence Parlier of New York, fifteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Parlier, two granddaughters; Shannon and Donna Kay Mynes, and four brothers; Finley, Cluster, Spurgon and Elliott Parlier. Funeral services for Mr. Sanford Arnold Parlier will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Beech Mountain Baptist Church; the body will lie in state at the church from 1 until 2 o'clock. Officiating will be Rev. Dennis Church and Rev. David Burnham. Burial will follow in the Beech Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 o'clock until 7:30 at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home. Austin & Barnes Funeral Home & Crematory is serving the Parlier family.
