Obituary of Erik G. Lunaas

September 7, 2009 Mr. Erik Gunnar Lunaas, age 31, of Todd, died Sunday morning September 6, 2009 in Boone. Born February 8, 1978 in New Bern North Carolina, he was the son of Pattie Kolb Newsome and Robert D. Lunaas, Jr. Erik was a 1996 Graduate of Watauga High School and had attended Appalachian State University. He was a sous chef and worked at the Bistro. He enjoyed hiking and being outdoors. Surviving are: his mother and step-father, Pattie & Glen Newsome of Todd, his father; Robert D. Lunaas of New Bern; two sisters; Amy and Kirstin Lunaas of Wilmington; one half sister; Carrie Lunaas of Emerald Isle, two step-sisters; Jennifer Newsome of Charlotte and Kristen Latchworth of Chapel Hill, one step brother; David Newsome of Raleigh and his paternal grandmother; Thelma Elizabeth Lunaas of New Bern. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents; Alex and Amy Kolb and his paternal grandfather; Robert D. Lunaas, Sr. Funeral services for Mr. Erik Gunnar Lunaas will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 3 o�clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Darrell Roberts. The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 1:30 until 3 o�clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Freedom Farm Ministries, PO Box 153, Boone, NC 28607.
