Obituary of Edna R. Winkler

Mrs. Edna Ragan Winkler, age 88, of Chestnut Drive, Blowing Rock, and formerly of Boone, died Thursday, August 13, 2009, at Blowing Rock Hospital. Born September 8, 1920, to the late Henry and Addie Norris Ragan, she was a cafeteria worker at Appalachian State University, a member of Three Forks Baptist Church. Surviving are four daughters; Shirley Winkler Earp of Charlotte, Pat Winkler Scattergood of Pineville, Billie Winkler Parker of Blowing Rock, and Gerry Winkler Perry of Boone, nine grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; Henry and Addie Norris Winkler, her husband Jack Taylor Winkler, Sr., and one son; Jack Taylor Winkler, Jr. Funeral services for Mrs. Edna Ragan Winkler will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 o�clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. David Ricker. Burial will follow in the Winker Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon prior to the service from 1 until 2 o�clock at the funeral home.
