Obituary of Bill Neal

Mr. John William (Bill) Neal, age 85, of Valle Crucis, died July 5, 2009, at his residence. He was born on July 28, 1923, the only son of Mary A. Tuttle and J. A. Neal. Bill attended school at Mineral Spring and Walnut Cove, NC. He served three years in the Navy during World War II. After service and marriage, he attended Mortuary Science College in St. Louis, MO. Returning to Winston-Salem, he worked for Vogler Funeral service until 1952 when he started working at Amarr Company in sales. Bill retired in 1990 as President of Amarr Garage Door. He was a Life Member of the Winston-Salem Elks Lodge and a past member of Kernersville Exchange Club.
He is survived by his loving wife, of 62 years, Agnes Chiapel Neal and four children: John W. Neal Jr. and wife, Arlene of Pacifica, California; Mary Neal Henson, David J. Neal and wife Julie, all of Sugar Grove, and Robert J. Neal and wife Maureen of Bunbury, Australia. He was blessed with six beautiful grandchildren, Baker, Chad, and Jordan Henson, Naomi, Jack and Lucy Neal.
Mr. Neal was preceded in death by his parents, J. A. and Mary Tuttle Neal and by two sisters, Mary Julia McCracken and Frances Hadley, and by a grandson, Jordan.
A gathering of family and friends for Mr. John William (Bill) Neal will be held at Salem Funeral Service, 120 South Main Street, Winston-Salem, NC between 2:00 and 5:00 PM on Saturday, July 11, 2009.
