Esteemed artist and teacher, James (Jim) Emerson Crompton died on Saturday, June 20, 2009. Born in New Jersey, Jim made his home in the High Country, and his many beautiful landscape paintings reflect his deep feelings for the Blue Ridge Mountains. In addition to being a talented artist who could paint any subject matter, Jim was a considerate, generous and enthusiastic teacher to his many students. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Patricia Crompton of Miami, FL; a nephew, three nieces and their families. A Memorial Service is planned for a later date in Boone, NC.
