James M. 'Junior' Warren, age 77, of Mountain Dale Road, Vilas, died Friday morning, June 19, 2009 at Watauga Medical Center. He was born April 22, 1932 in Watauga County to Marvin and Lottie Warren. Mr. Warren was a member of the Beaver Dam Baptist Church in the Bethel community and was a retired machinist from Vermont American in Boone. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and served during the Korean Conflict. Junior is survived by; his wife, Nancy McGuire Warren; two step-daughters, Frankie Bragg and husband Skip, of Sugar Grove, and Shirley Glenn and husband, Hubert, of Mountain City, Tennessee; one step-son, Eugene McGuire and wife, Elaine, of Vilas; two sisters, Marie Beashear and friend Gilbert Fraiser, of Millers Creek and Margaret Martin and husband, Reid, of North Wilkesboro; three brothers, Kyle Warren and wife, Sunny, of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Arland and Howard Cardwell, both of North Wilkesboro. Four step-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Susan Arnette Warren, and one sister, Hattie Wolf. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Warren family in care of Austin & Barnes. Funeral services for Junior Warren will be conducted Sunday evening at 8 o'clock at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Carl Johnson and Rev. Quincy Norris. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:30 until 8 o'clock, prior to services, at the funeral home. Graveside services and burial will be conducted Monday morning at 11 o'clock at the Lower Beaver Dam Baptist Church Cemetery.
