Mr. Robert True "Bob" Cook passed away May 21, 2009 at Cannon Memorial Hospital, Linville, NC
Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, Bob was the son of Stanley Dyer Cook and Florence True Cook. His sister, Peggy Blakey of Santa Barbara California, and brother Stanley of Brockton, Massachusetts preceded him in death.
During World War II, Bob served as a radarman on the destroyer Collette in the 3rd and 5th Pacific fleets. He attended Brown University, graduating in 1950.
At the National Bureau of Standards (now the national Institute for Standards and Technology), he was a writer, information officer, and especially enjoyed supervising the Bureau's exhibits and conference programs. He retired as acting chief of the bureau's Office of Technical Information.
A resident of Linville Land Harbor since 1981, Bob was a founding member of the Land Harbor Mountain Mixers square dance club, a golfer and a bridge player.
Bob is survived by his wife Ann, of Linville Land Harbor, his daughter, Sue Trainor of Columbia, MD; son Rodney of Rossville, GA; and grandchildren, Cameron Trainor of Aurora, Colorado, and Matthew, Melissa, and Michael Cook of Rossville.
