Mr. Ernest Stokes Hamilton, age 80, of Boone, died April 18, 2009 at Watauga Medical Center. Born July 17, 1928 in Charlotte, North Carolina, he was a son of the late Dr. E. Stokes Hamilton and Elizabeth Keerans Hamilton. Ernie was a US Army Veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was also a lifelong student, having attended Appalachian State University while in his 70's.
Surviving are several cousins, including Don Keerans and wife Joy Miller Keerans of Richmond, Virginia, Lynne Omelchenko and family of Fredrick, Maryland, Scott Keerans and family of Richmond, Virginia and Tom Keerans and family of Coaldale, Pennsylvania. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister; Florence Hamilton.
