Obituary of Claude C. Ward

Mr. Claude Casey Ward, age 79, of Blowing Rock Extended Care, died Friday evening, April 24, 2009 at Watauga Medical Center. Born July 16, 1929 in Watauga County he was a son of the late James Amos and Mary Elizabeth Hicks Ward. Mr. Ward was a farmer and a member of Laurel Springs Baptist Church. Surviving are; his former wife, Sadie Ward of Boone, one daughter; Libby Miller and husband Fred of Boone, two sons; James Brad Ward of Boone, and Terry Turbyfill of Sugar Grove., one sister, Corina Woodring and husband Burl of Boone and Wilborn Ward and wife Thelma of Deep Gap, six grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two children; Treva Ward and Johnny Ray Ward, two grandchildren; Timothy Baldwin and Sandra Ward, one great grandchild; Bradley Morrison, one sister Rachel Miller and one brother Murphy Ward. Funeral services for Mr. Claude Casey Ward will be conducted Monday evening at 7:30 at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiating will be Rev. Delmar James. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 o'clock until 7:30 at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in care of Libby Miller, 2623 Meat Camp Road, Boone, NC 28607. Graveside services and burial for Mr. Claude Casey Ward will be conducted Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock at the Yates Cemetery; officiated by Rev. Delmar James.
