Mr. James Kermit Wallace, age 81, of Vanderpool Road, Vilas, died Thursday morning, October 25, 2007 at home. Born in Watauga County December 14, 1926, he was a son of the late Roby and Erma Martin Wallace. Mr. Wallace was an Army Veteran of WWII and was a member of Sutherland United Methodist Church. He was a farmer and was retired from Sprague Electric and Belks.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret Donnelly Wallace, four sons; Jerry Wallace and wife Peggy of Creston, Charlie Wallace and wife Anna of Vilas, Doug Wallace and wife Mitzi of Boone, and Scott Wallace of Vilas, six grandchildren; Tammy Critcher of Boone, Darren Wallace of Boone, Daniel Wallace of Vilas, Andrew Wallace and Landon Wallace both of Boone, and Brittany Wallace of Charlotte, five great grandchildren, four sisters; Edith Henson of Vilas, Mabel Hagaman of Trade, TN, Ella Mae Fletcher of Boone, and Geneva Hackney of Vincennes, Indiana, and three brothers; Argus Wallace of Boone, R. C. Wallace of Mountain City, TN, and Bill Wallace of Sugar Grove. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Wallace.
Funeral services for Mr. James Kermit Wallace will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Sutherland United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Ricky Mitchell. Burial will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park and Gardens. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the Sutherland United Methodist Church, in care of Martha Nelson, 208 Harrison Road, Boone, NC 28607.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:30 until 8:30 at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home.
