Paris Ragan Winebarger, age 86 of Meat Camp Road, Boone and Glenbridge Health & Rehabilitation, died Monday morning, March 30, 2009 at Watauga Medical Center. Paris was born in Watauga County, May 15, 1922, a daughter of George Carter Ragan Sr. and Maude Grogan Ragan. She graduated valedictorian from Elkland High School in Todd and retired from TRW. Mrs. Winebarger was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church. She volunteered in the community for organizations such as Meals on Wheels, Green Valley Homemaker Association, United Methodist Women's Club and with the elementary school tutoring program. Mrs. Winebarger is survived by; her three daughters, June Kendall-Goins and husband, Chuck, of Chapel Hill, Joyce Mitchell, and Pat Kohles, and husband, Art, of Boone and one son, Bobby Winebarger, and wife, Barbara, of Greenville; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one sister, Helen R. Brown, of Boone and one brother, Robert 'Bob' Ragan, of Greensboro. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Clyde Winebarger, one sister, Mary Dee Cooke, and one brother, George Carter Ragan, Jr. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Hopewell United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Cindy K. Shelton. The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 1 until 2 o'clock, one hour prior to services, at the church. Burial will follow in the Hopewell Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will be at the home of a daughter, Pat Kohles, 1401 Meat Camp Road, Boone.
