Obituary of C. P. Calloway

Mr. C. P. Calloway, Sr., age 80, of Hunting Road, Boone, died Sunday morning, March 15, 2009 at Watauga Medical Center. Born in Watauga County October 23, 1928, he was a son of the late Vance and Faye Perry Calloway. Mr. Calloway retired after 36 years as a Quality Assurance Manager from TRW/IRC. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for over 35 years. He was a member of the Keystone Sunday School Class, and a founding member of the Watauga County Rescue Squad. Mr. Calloway was also a US Navy Veteran, having served in the Construction Battalion. C. P. graduated from Appalachian State Teachers College, and taught math and science at Blowing Rock High School. He was an Eagle Scout and an avid gardener. Surviving are: his wife, Martha Greene Calloway, one daughter, Annie Calloway of Boone, two sons; Andy Calloway and wife Kim of Concord and Clifton Calloway and wife Shon of Rock Hill, South Carolina, four granddaughters; Dana Calloway-Landress, Mollie Calloway, Casey Calloway, and Sally Calloway two grandsons; Luke Calloway and Garret Calloway, one sister; Betty Jane Fox of Whitman, Massachusetts, and a number of nieces and nephews Funeral services for Mr. C. P. Calloway, Sr. will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 o�clock at Oak Grove Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Scott Courtney. The body will lie in state at the church from 1 until 2 o�clock. Burial will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens. Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be to the Lewis H.
