Obituary of Blanche G. Shoemake

Mrs. Martha Blanche Greene Shoemake, age 87, of Junaluska Road, Boone, died Monday evening, March 2, 2009 at home. Born in Watauga County February 21, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Barry Leonard and Maggie Watson Greene. Mrs. Shoemake was a homemakerand was of the Baptist faith. She was a devoted and loving mother to seven children; Bobby Shoemake of Boone, Billy Shoemake of Deland, Florida, Betty Milligan and husband Ronnie of Seven Lakes, Margie Lewis and husband Walt of Boone, Mary Miller of Hickory, Deborah Sloan and husband Kenneth of Jackson, New Jersey, and Patricia Shoemake of Morganton, nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren also survive, and a special niece, Barbara Snyder of Boone. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hoye Edward Shoemake, two sisters; Ruth Calcutt and Belva Penley, and five brothers; John L. Greene, Russell Greene, Ralph Greene, Bland Greene, Bonard Greene and an infant, Blaine Greene. Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Blanche Greene Shoemake will be conducted Thursday morning at 11 o�clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Kenny Newberry and Dr. Sonny Younce. Burial will follow in the Watson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to High Country Health Care System Hospice, 400 Shadowline Drive, Suite 100-B, Boone, NC 28607. The family will receive friends Thursday morning one hour prior to the service from 10 o�clock until 11 o�clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home.
