Mr. Ray Edward Osborne, age 77, of Martin Lane, Boone, died Saturday morning, January 17, 2009 at the James H. Quillen Veteran's Medical Center in Mountain Home, Tennessee. Born September 8, 1931 in Fig, North Carolina, he was a son of the late Edward and Beatrice Farmer Osborne. Ray was a US Navy Veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. He attended Appalachian State University and was a Quality Control Engineer.
Surviving are his wife; Janice Osborne, four sons; Edward Osborne and wife Vicki of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, R. S. Osborne of Foscoe, Alan Osborne and wife Lori of Valdese, and Joel Osborne of Boone, two grandchildren, Elyse Osborne of Valdese and Steven Wilson of Palm Beach, Florida, and two sisters; Jo Hughes of Boone and Ella Dougherty of Springfield, Virginia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter; Amy Jo Wilson.
Memorial services for close friends and family of Mr. Ray Edward Osborne will be conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. The family respectfully requests no food.
