Obituary of Joey D. Hopkins

Joseph Daniel �Joey� Hopkins, age 26, of Boone, died Tuesday at Carolina�s Medical Center in Charlotte. Born in San Diego, California on September 1, 1982, Joey attended Watauga County Schools and graduated from Omega Studio�s School of Applied Recording Arts and Sciences. He was a gifted artist and musician. Joey was dearly loved by his family. Joey is survived by: his mother and step-father, Kristal and Michael Austin of Boone and two sisters, Katy and Karen Hopkins, both of the home. His maternal grandmother, Ida Mae Cash; maternal great grandmother, Elizabeth Messer; maternal great grandmother, Clara Cash; three aunts, Katrina Cash and Karen Greco and Kelly Turner and husband Chuck, all of Sarasota, Florida; and by one uncle, Gabriel Uri of Ashland, Oregon. A number of cousins, great aunts and uncles and extended family also survive. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Joe Cash, maternal great grandfathers P.J. Messer and James Cash. Funeral services for Joey Hopkins will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 o�clock at the First Presbyterian Church in Boone, officiated by Rev. Dr. Ron Bowie. The family will receive friends following services at the church. The family respectfully requests no food or flowers and suggests memorials to the Hospitality House, Post Office Box 309, Boone, NC 28607.
