Obituary of Benny C. Harmon

Benny Clay Harmon, age 60, of Old US Hwy 421, Zionville, died Monday evening, December 29, 2008 at Watauga Medical Center. He was born February 14, 1948 in Caldwell County to Adie and Glady Hicks Harmon. He was employed by the Town of Boone Sanitation Department before his health forced his early retirement. Mr. Harmon was a member of Sandy Flat Baptist Church. He is survived by; his wife, Lillie Mae Ward Harmon, four daughters, Amy Adcox and husband Chris of Banner Elk, Arlene Harmon of Elizabethton, Tenn., Melissa Harmon of Johnson City, Tenn. and Karen Harmon of the home, one son, Benjamin Clay Harmon and wife April of Zionville, six grandchildren, four brothers, Marshall Harmon and Lee Harmon and wife Betty, all of Vilas, Houston Harmon and wife Margie of Cove Creek and Ernest Harmon and wife Jean of Hickory, and three sisters, Dare Ward of Boone, Sue Ward and husband J. B. of Elk Park and Linda Kelley and husband George of Lenoir. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by one brother, Grady Harmon. Funeral services for Benny Clay Harmon will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o�clock at Sandy Flat Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Max West. The family will receive friends Thursday from noon until 2 o�clock, prior to services, at the church. Burial will follow in the Matney-Liberty Community Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Harmon family in care of Austin & Barnes.
