Obituary of Leona L. Bell

Mary Leona Lusk Bell, age 77, of NC Highway 194 South, Banner Elk, the Valle Crucis community, died Saturday morning, December 27, ,2008 at Cannon Hospital in Linville. She was born January 22, 2931 in Watauga County to Walter Gerald and Martha Teaster Lusk. Mrs. Bell was a member of Clark's Creek Baptist Church. Before retirement, she was employed by Hanes Hosiery and Baxter Health Care Corporation.
Mrs. Bell is survived by; one son, Kent Bell and wife Lisa of Newland, her step-daughter, Donna Bell Eller and husband Joe of Boone, two grandsons, Aaron & Austin Bell, both of Newland, and one sister, Carolyn Townsend and husband Gilbert of Hudson. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Lymon Bell, two brothers, Ray and Fred Lusk, two sisters, Hazel Hicks and Pansy McGuire.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock at Clark's Creek Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Mike Townsend and Rev. Bill Warren. The body will lie in state at the church from noon until 1 o'clock. Burial will follow in the Liberty-Matney Community Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 4 o'clock until 6 o'clock Sunday evening.
