Obituary of Betty Greer Wood

Betty Jane Greer Wood, age 78, of Boone, passed away October 11, 2018 at the home of her son in Winston-Salem. Born August 9, 1940 in Watauga County, she was a daughter of Lawrence and Willie Jane Greer. Betty worked as a retail manager. She is survived by her children, Chris Cox and wife, Christy, of Winston-Salem, Tony Cox and wife, Ronda, of Deep Gap, and Shelia Cox Storie of Zionville; five grandchildren, Justin, Wesley and Cameron Cox, Natalie and Nicholas Watson; great-grandchildren, Raylee, Andrew and Carson Cox and Cayden Parker; sisters, Louise Moretz of Deep Gap and Joyce Carlton of Fleetwood; and brother, Loye Greer and wife, Peggy, of Blowing Rock. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy C. Wood; and brothers, Troy, Bill and Nelson Greer. Private funeral services for Betty Greer Wood were conducted Sunday afternoon, October 14, 2018 at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Gary Shew and Rev. Tim Moretz.
