Obituary of Archie L. Carroll

Archie Lamer Carroll, age 72, of Green Briar Road, Boone, died Wednesday evening, December 10, 2008 at Cannon Memorial Hospital in Linville. He was born July 20, 1936 in Watauga County to Leonard Spencer and Rosa Hodges Carroll. Archie was an avid game hunter and fisherman. He retired from Chandler Concrete as a diesel mechanic and was a member of Middlefork Baptist Church.
Mr. Carroll is survived by; his wife, Christine 'Cricket' Hartley Carroll, one daughter, Patricia Carroll of Manchester, N. H., three sons, Randy Carroll and wife Lisa of Mountain City, TN, Curtis Carroll and wife Beverly of Brooklet, GA., and Martin Carroll and wife Lillie of Boone, his foster son, Mike Triplett and wife Cheryl of Boone, five granddaughters, Melissa Vanzant of Boston, Mass., Olivia Brown and husband Micah of Newnan, GA., Courtney Carroll of Manchester, N.H. Lindsey Sapp and husband Joey of Brooklet, Ga., and Rebecca McLaughlin of Apollo Beach, FL., six grandsons, Bryan McLaughlin and wife Jessie of Wellsburg, W. Va., Shane Carroll of Brooklet, GA., Zackary and Jed Carroll, both of Boone, Ryan and Ethan Carroll, both of Mountain City, TN., two great grandchildren, Landon Brown of Newnan, Ga., and Taylor McLaughlin of Wellsburg, W. Va., two sisters, Betty Hawkins of Cleveland, TN. and Reba Randall and husband Grady of Triplett, and two brothers, Newell Carroll and wife Shirley of Cleveland, TN. and J. R. Carroll and wife Sue of Deep Gap.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Luke Carroll, one brother Baxter Carroll, one sister Mabel Goda and his parents.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Bill Warren. The body will lie in state at the chapel from 1 until 2 o'clock. Burial will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens.
