Julie Weaver Getty, 40, of Mountain View Baptist Church Road, Deep Gap, passed away Thursday July 5, 2018, following a courageous multi-year battle with breast cancer. She was the daughter of Grayson and Julie Weaver, born May 19, l978 in High Point. The High Country gained a special resident after she graduated from Trinity High School and enrolled at ASU, where she earned a Bachelor Science Degree in social work. The area made an impression on her and she made an impression on the High Country, spending the remainder of her days here. She was the co-founder of High Country Care Foundation. The care and condition of her patients were top priority at work through the years at Community Alternative Programs in Newland, Glenbridge Health and Rehabilitation and Medi Home Health & Hospice of Boone. Her husband and girls were her top priority at home. Appalachian State brought her to her husband of more than 16 years, Robert John Getty, Jr., who survivors along with their daughters, Sutton and Landis. Julie joins her father, grandparents and pets in heaven with her heavenly Father, whom she worshipped at First Baptist Church of Boone. Also surviving are her mother, Judy Weaver of Archdale; brother, Gregory Weaver and wife, Amy, and nieces, Reagan and Logan Weaver, all of Bluffton, SC. Private graveside services for the family were conducted at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Blowing Rock. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted Saturday morning, July 14th at 11 o’clock at the First Baptist Church in Boone, officiated by Pastor Roy Dobyns. A reception will follow services in the church fellowship hall.
