Sidney Moore Frank of Clyde, NC, recently of Boone, N.C., passed away the evening of April 25th, 2018.
Sidney was born in Charlotte, N.C. on January 27th, 1927 and is survived by his adopted son, Raymond Columbus Shaw Frank. Sidney died two days before the first anniversary of the death of his beloved wife, Rita. The couple was married nearly 59 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward C. Frank and Gertha C. Frank of Charlotte. He was the last surviving sibling of seven, preceded in death by his brothers, Edward C. Frank Jr., of Washington, D.C. and Lewis C. Frank of Salisbury, N.C., and sisters Katherine Frank Elam of Charlotte, N.C., Helen Frank Phillips of Charlotte, N.C., Martha Frank Crowell of Lake Norman, N.C., and Evelyn Frank Hall Waumett of Salisbury, N.C.
There were fifteen nephews and nieces among the surviving family members.
Sidney attended schools in Charlotte, N.C., and graduated from Central High School. He was a graduate of Erskine College in Due West, S.C. and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II.
He was associated in the financial business during his entire working career with Barclays American Financial of Charlotte, and two other related financial companies. His work took him and his family to many areas of the Southeast and Southwest; Jackson and Biloxi Mississippi, Columbia and Sumter, S.C., Atlanta, Ga., and Dallas, Texas. He worked in a supervisory capacity in these states with his work causing him to travel to many states in the country. He was promoted to regional vice president after relocating to Dallas, Texas, that position taking him to many parts of the Southwest.
Sid and Rita, his wife of over 58 years, retired to Waynesville, N.C. where they became ingrained in the Clyde and Waynesville community of Haywood County. He was associated with the Haywood Christian Ministry for a number of years, often saying how he thoroughly enjoyed the ministry and the part it plays for the people of Haywood County. He and Rita were long-time members of the First United Methodist Church of Waynesville, and he served as one of the head ushers for many years.
Memorial services for Sidney Moore Frank will be held at Mountainside Lutheran Church, located on the grounds of Camp Linn Haven in Linville N.C., on Friday, May 4, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., where his nephew, Steve Frank, and his wife, Susan, serve as musicians. Pastor Dennis Quackenboss will officiate at the service. Burial will be private
