Georgia Gail Norris Matheson, age 77, of Kellwood Drive, Boone, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at her home.
Born January 21, 1941 in Watauga County, she was a daughter of George and Myrtle Grogan Norris. Mrs. Matheson was a member of the First Independent Baptist Church in Blowing Rock and retired after 40 years as a bookkeeper with Mack Brown GM Dealership. Georgia was a caring and devoted wife and mother who loved her family unconditionally. She was a spiritual lady whose goal in life was helping others.
Georgia is survived by her husband of 59 years, Hubert Carlton Matheson; daughter, Mitzi Michele Matheson of Lenoir; brothers, Bobby Joe Norris and wife, Anne, of Greensboro, and Mike Norris and wife, Marie, of Boone; sister-in-law, Martha Norris of Boone; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, G.C. Norris.
Funeral services for Georgia Matheson will be conducted Sunday, April 29th, at 2 PM at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Chapel, officiated by Pastor Gary Shew and Minister Gordon Noble. Graveside services will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 until 7:30 at Austin & Barnes.
