Obituary of Riley Turnmire

Riley Andrew 'Shorty' Turnmire, age 77, of Highway 88 West, Warrensville, passed away Friday evening, July 19th at his home. Mr. Turnmire is survived by his wife, Effie McCoy Turnmire; his children, Tim Roten and wife, Alicia, of Jefferson, Penny Knobel and husband, Rob, of West Jefferson, Mark Turnmire and Chrissy Osborne, both of West Jefferson, Shelby Holman and husband, Daryl, of Grassy Creek, Worth Turnmire of Sparta, Mary Farmer and husband, Charlie, of Warrensville, and Marie Goss and husband, Tony, Linda Turnmire, Brenda Sheets, and Laure Dillard and husband, Bobby, all of Jefferson; twenty-eight grandchildren and thirty-eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, Melvin, Walter and Frankie Turnmire, all of Kannapolis; and two sisters, Sophie Turnmire of Kannapolis and Francis Turnmire, of West Jefferson. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial services for Riley Andrew 'Shorty' Turnmire will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Mt. Paddy Church in Jefferson, officiated by Rev. Roger Blevins, Rev. Steve Leashomb, and Rev. Wayne Osborne. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2 until 4 o'clock, two hours prior to services, at the church. Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made to the Mt.
