Johnny Mark Miller, 54, of Miller Lane, Zionville and Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee, passed away Monday afternoon, March 19, 2018 at Johnson City Medical Center.
Born May 23, 1963 in Avery County, he was a son of Robert Franklin Jr. and Louise Eggers Miller. Johnny was a member of Unity Baptist Church and a self-made man who was confident in his salvation. He spent his life working with his hands and always took pride in whatever job he was doing. An avid gardener with a green thumb, he loved planting and tending his vegetable gardens. He and Becky loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking in the woods with the dogs. Johnny was employed by John-Re Woodcarving and then by Clover Construction Company.
Surviving are his wife, Becky Grayson Miller; mother, Louise Miller of Zionville; sisters, Kathy Pugliese and husband, Bill, Gina Miller, and Lisa Thacker and husband, Bobby, and brothers, Ricky Miller and wife, Brenda, David Miller and wife, Amy and Joey Miller and wife, Roxanna, all of Zionville; mother-in-law, Jean Grayson and brother-in-law, Michael Grayson, both of Mountain City; aunts, Irene Greene and husband, David of Mentor-on�the-Lake, Ohio, and Frances Leonard and husband, Johnny, of Knoxville, TN; uncle, Oley Eggers and wife, Libby, of Zionville; nephews, Garet Garland of Charlotte and Stephen Miller of Chapel Hill; nieces, Sally Hicks and husband, Garrett of Vilas and Kendra Ratcliff and husband, Adam, of Zionville; great-niece, Alyssa Ratcliff; and great-nephews, Kamden Ratcliff, Gunnar, Raylan and Archer Hicks. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Franklin Miller and father-in-law, Frank Grayson.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday morning, March 24, at 11 oclock at Unity Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Derek Wilson. Graveside services will follow in the Miller Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 8 oclock at Austin & Barnes. At other times, the family will be at the home of Louise Miller, 367 Miller Lane, Zionville.
