Mr. Robert Carter (Bobby) Cook, age 87, of Blackberry Road, Boone, passed away Friday evening, March 16, 2018 at Glenbridge Health & Rehabilitation. Born December 20, 1930 in Caldwell County, he was a son of the late Robert Clell Cook and Velma McLean Cook. Bobby was a member and Deacon at Baileys Camp Baptist Church. He was a retired machine operator with Broyhill Furniture. Bobbys favorite hobby was Ginseng hunting. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Mae Elliott Cook, six children, Robert Cook, Jr., and wife Myra, David Cook and wife Ronda, Tim Cook and wife Debby all of Boone, Marsha Combs and husband Gerald of Sugar Grove, Marta Lewis and husband Terry of Boone and Mark Cook and wife Karen of Fleetwood, two brothers, Herman Cook of Florida and Gaither Cook and wife Linda of Banner Elk, five brothers in law, Paul Thompson of Forest City, Carl Jordan of Bristol, Virginia, Bill Elliott of Roanoke, Virginia, Johnny Elliott of Jefferson and Emmett Lewis of Ashe county, 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ona Laferne Story Cook, one sister, Sarah Jane Thompson, and one brother, Joby Cook. Funeral services for Mr. Bobby Cook will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 PM at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Eddie Lewis and Rev. Sam McGinn. Burial will follow in the Baileys Camp Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 PM until 8 PM at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home.
