Ruth Wilson Brown, 91, of Pineview Dr., Boone, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Life Care Center of Banner Elk. Born March 16, 1927 in Watauga County, she was the daughter of John Clinton and Leanah Winebarger Wilson. Mrs. Brown was a member of Perkinsville Baptist Church. She was loved by her family and they were everything to her. She was a strong spirited lady who loved the Lord, was a hard worker, and loved working outside growing flowers, vegetable gardening, and sharing with her family and friends the bounty of her
labor. She also loved the craft of quilting and making sure each of her family members had a quilt that Mamaw had made.
Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elzie Smith Brown; five sisters, Georgia Morris, Ruby Triplett, Lucille Miller, Mary Wilson, and Jean Cottrell; and three brothers, Raymond, Frank, and Alex Wilson.
She is survived by her children, Shirley Critcher and husband, Rodney, Wanda Kerley, and Marie Norris and husband, Mike, all of Boone, and Roger Brown of Wilkesboro; seven grandchildren, Lorie Bolick and friend, Anthony Critcher, of Boone, Bradley Warren and wife, Christy, of Vilas, Gina Thompson and husband, Greg, of Mountain City, TN, Tammy Isaacs and husband, Charles, of Vilas, Kendall Houck and husband, Jon, of Boone, Kinsay Sand and husband, Matt, of Asheville, and Josh Brown of Rock Hill, SC; ten great-grandchildren, Tyler Thompson and wife, Danielle, Katie Watson and husband, Luke, Lauren Thompson, Madison Bolick, Bailey Bolick, Lindsay W. Ford and husband, Sam, Brandon Warren, Justin Isaacs, Jessica I. Moretz and husband, Justin, and Olive Sand; and by one great-great-grandchild, Jaxxon Ford. She is also survived by a special brother-in-law, Glenn Cottrell, who she always knew when he visited, and special sister-in-law, Peggy Trivett, who could always make her laugh. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon, March 17, 2018 at 3 oclock at Perkinsville Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Seth Norris, Rev. Harold Bennett and Preacher Greg Thompson. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 until 3 oclock, prior to services, at the church. Graveside services will follow at Jont Brown Cemetery.
