Mrs. Edith "Kinky" Moretz Cornell, age 98, of Lenoir and formerly of the Rich Mountain Community died Friday evening, August 30, 2007 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Born February 28, 1909 in Watauga County, she was a daughter of Martin Luther and Nancy Walls Moretz. Mrs. Cornell was a member of Rich Mountain Baptist Church, a homemaker, farmer and domestic housekeeper. Mrs. Cornell is survived by: her son, Louis Cornell and his wife Cornelia and one grandson, David Cornell, all of Lenoir. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, M.H. Cornell; six sisters: Lillian Tate, Zella Moretz, Ruby Beach, Ennice Gragg, Pauline Neilson and Ella Moretz; five brothers: Wade, Forace, Glenn, Eston and Martin Moretz. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon, September 2, 2007 at 2 PM at the Austin & Barnes funeral chapel, officiated Rev. Carter Moretz. Burial will follow at the Meat Camp Baptist Church Cemetery.
