Obituary of Ann G. Darnell

Mrs. Ann Greer Darnell, age 64, of Old US 421 South, Boone, died Monday morning November 10, 2008 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. Born in Watauga County May 5, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Roby T. and Ruth German Greer. Ann was a graduate of Appalachian High School; she held a BS in Biology from Appalachian State University and a Masters in Biology from UNC-Greensboro; she attended the University of Indiana on a piano scholarship and the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill in the Masters program for Medical Technology. Ann taught at Hibriten High School and worked at the UNC Hospital. She was a member of Three Forks Baptist Church and a farmer and cattle rancher. Surviving are her husband; Hugh Darnell, one niece, Alison Greer Neely and husband Chip of Raleigh, one nephew; David T. Greer and wife Karen of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, two great nieces; Jessica Lynn Neely of Raleigh and Heather Lynn Greer of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents; Roby T. and Ruth German Greer and one brother, David Thomas Greer. Funeral services for Ann Greer Darnell will be conducted Saturday morning at 11 o�clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. James D. Hagaman. Burial will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Three Forks Baptist Church, 1922 US Hwy 421 South, Boone, NC 28607. The family will receive friends Saturday morning prior to the service from 10 o�clock until 11 o�clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home.
