Obituary of Margaret S. Clevenger

Margaret �Marge� Steehler Clevenger, age 94, formerly of Deep Gap, passed away Thursday morning, February 1, 2018 at Glenbridge Health & Rehabilitation. Born December 18, 1923 in Rochester, NY, she was a daughter of Charles Mathias and Margaret Helen Schmidt Steehler. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother and great-grandmother, Marge loved her family beyond measure. Her greatest joy was laughing with family, cooking for gatherings, and enjoying her Bloody Mary every Friday. Marge and her late husband, Theodore, retired to the Triplett community. She enjoyed being with people and quickly became active in the community. She was named Woman of the Month in September, 2003. Mrs. Clevenger volunteered at Ram�s Rack, Watauga Medical Center, The Seby B. Jones Cancer Center, and the Shepherds Committee at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. She participated in the Senior Bowling League, High Country Senior Games, and line dancing at the Senior Center with the High Country Silver liners.
Mrs. Clevenger is survived by her sons, Dan Clevenger and wife, Janet, and Ted Clevenger and wife, Crystal, all of Deep Gap; and four grandchildren, Ted Clevenger and wife, Katy, of Asheville, Brian Clevenger of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Fred Clevenger and wife, Jennifer, and Rebecca Moore, all of West Palm Beach, FL; and four great-grandchildren, Bodhi Clevenger of Asheville, Logan Clevenger, Mia Moore and Liam Moore, all of West Palm Beach, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Brendan Clevenger.
A funeral Mass for Marge Clevenger will be celebrated Monday morning, February 12, 2018 at 11 o�clock at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, officiated by Father Matthew Codd. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 oclock, prior to services, at St. Elizabeth. Graveside services will be private at Woodlawn Cemetery in Blowing Rock.
