Obituary of Carolyn Y. Whisenant

Carolyn Yount Whisenant, 86, of Clover, SC went to her heavenly home on Saturday, January 6, 2018. Mrs. Whisenant was born February 14, 1931 in Lincolnton, NC to the late Ernest and Sally Seagle Yount. She had one sister, Joan, whom she is dancing with in heaven. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Avery Deal (A.D.) Whisenant of Clover, SC for 66 years. Together, they had Dale Steven Whisenant (Mary) of Boone, NC and Barry Martin Whisenant of Tega Cay, SC. She is also survived by brothers in law Richard (Dick) Whisenant of Clover, SC and Jerry Hoffman of Charlotte, NC. Nieces include Jackie Wallace, Brenda Glenn (Tom Ed), Debbie Smith (Billy) and Zoe Hoffman. Nephews include Michael Whisenant (Joy), Darrell Whisenant (Tammy), Max Whisenant (Kristy), and Eric Hoffman (Dawn), and great nieces, nephews, her pastor, Charles Aurand and many dear friends. To have known Carolyn was to know a gracious, kind, and beautiful woman, inside and out. She was a true Southern Lady. She was a devout Lutheran her whole life and served on Circles and on the Lutheran Womens Conference. Carolyn and A.D. were summer residents of Boone, NC for many years. They loved their special mountain home Doe Ridge. Nothing made her happier than the hours she spent in her gardens. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2017 at the M.L. Ford and Sons Funeral Home Chapel, 209 N. Main Street, Clover with the Rev. Dr. J. George (Gil) Gilbert, STS officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Memory Gardens.
