Obituary of John R. McNeely

Mr. John Robert McNeely, age 88, of Boone died Monday morning, April 14, 2008 at Glenbridge Health & Rehabilitation. Born February 26, 1920, in Mecklenburg County, he was a son of the late Samuel Egbert and Nellie Mae Maxwell McNeely. John was a retired salesman and a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his wife; Hal Stevenson McNeely, two sons; Robert Hal McNeely of Boone and John Michael McNeely and wife Karen of Asheboro, NC, one daughter, Marsha Carol McNeely-Spitzen and husband Arnold John Spitzen, and two grandsons, Benjamin Michael McNeely and Thomas Albert McNeely, and one sister, Eloise McNeely Howard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters; Nell McNeely Owensby and Elizabeth McNeely Steele.
Memorial services for Mr. John Robert McNeely will be held at a later date. The family respectfully requests no flowers, and suggests memorials to the First Presbyterian Church Build Fund, 663 Howard Street, Boone, NC 28607. Austin & Barnes Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the McNeely family.
